As most of you know I found out, the hard way, that Gianna was allergic to eggs. It was right before her birthday so I even made her a special egg free cake. She has been seeing an allergist since she was teeny-tiny so he thought it would be best to test her for other food allergies. We went in yesterday and he was reluctant to do it simply because her eczema was looking so good and he didn't want to upset her. But he knew we had to do it and THANK GOD we did!! She was tested for the most common food allergies (eggs, milk, wheat, soy, peanuts and I forgot the rest). It was a simple skin test, which she didn't even blink for. She just looked at her arm, and then gave the nurse a "You Bi-yoch, what the h-e-double hockey sticks did you just do to me" look and kept going. Shortly after 2 HUGE welts show up on her arm and a 3rd smaller bump later. Eggs was the smallest bump. Histamine (I'm assuming that was the control test because the doctor didn't mention it at all) and PEANUTS! I had a gut feeling all along about them and boy was I glad I stuck to it and never let her try peanut butter. The doctor went over anaphylaxis with me as well as how to use epi-pen and what to look for in her reactions. He seemed to think it will be pretty serious when/if it happens.
I am still overwhelmed by all this but am slowly processing it all.
